Over the Rode NT1 20-plus-year history we have helped countless recording engineers discover this amazing cardioid condenser microphone - and this latest NT1 model is by far the most impressive one yet! Sporting a mere 4.5dB of self noise the NT1 isn just the quietest studio condenser microphone Rode has produced to date it one of the quietest mics of its type in the world. Patented Lyre capsule suspension technology from Rycote further enhance the sound of the NT1 isolating it from even the natural harmonic resonance of its aluminum body. And with the bundled SRM combination shock mount and pop filter this NT1 Kit is a truly amazing deal.

This mic is an absolute workhorse. The value for money in this package trumps anything else in this price range especially! I prefer it's flatter frequency response compared to the NT1-A, making it slightly more versatile and very practical for many different uses. Can always give it more "character" using EQ in post. There will always be better mics out there, but none can match the cost/quality balance that the NT1 achieves. If you are looking for your first condenser mic, this is definitely the one I'd recommend. However do take note that since it is a condenser (and an extremely sensitive one too), you will end up having a lot of background noise (like air conditioning noise, laptop/pc fan noise, etc) wherever present. May not be the best choice for untreated/un-isolated spaces (in which case maybe consider a dynamics mic instead).
5 stars mic
Very pleased with this microphone. The Rode product line has always appealed to me, and this model does not disappoint. Frequency response is quite a bit different from the NT1-A, and to my ears, flatter, and less harsh in the high frequencies. It has quickly become one of my favorite microphones. I believe you could spend an awful lot more money, and not see a large return on that investment. This product sits in the sweet spot between entry-level microphones that are often disappointing, and the best of the best, which will leave you with empty pockets. Highly recommend.
I have been recording music for over 50 years, both as a professional and as a hobbyist. First, I applaud Rode for selling this as a package complete with shock mount and pop shield. These 'extras' can add quite a lot to the budget but they really are essential for clean recordings. This mic is super quiet in operation and the frequency response is amazingly flat for a mic at this price level, making it extremely versatile. I love it for acoustic instruments!
Words can barely express how happy I am with my Rode NT1! The noise levels are almost non-existent. I am a voice over artists with a home studio so I record on a daily basis. I read quite a few reviews before deciding to purchase and I am glad I did!
