Provides an excellent acoustic guitar sound

Tech 21 builds great stuff, and I love that this can be phantom powered. I play in an acoustic duo through a small PA but I hate how piezo pickups sound. I usually use a Boss bass EQ to dial out as much quack as possible, and it works pretty well. In addition I run a basic pedal compressor.

Well, after one gig I was so dissatisfied with my acoustic sound that I ordered one of these - even though the newer version long available. Well, it works great. My piezo quack is pretty much gone. My only gripe, and it's not really a complaint, just a recognition of the limitations of this pedal - though it has 3 band EQ with a sweepable mid control, I still use the Bass EQ pedal to fine tune my sound. You can't get as finely detailed with this as with a 7 band EQ, which is obvious, I know. But I was hoping that I wouldn't need to use the EQ pedal anymore, and while it's not absolutely necessary I like being able to control the boominess with the EQ pedal.

This works great and I'd buy another one if I lost the one I have now.

Reliably great sounding

Does what it says on the tin and more. Can go from crystal clean tones to hard overdriven sounds without a hiccup. For a live rig it would be great paired with a distortion pedal on the front and a multi-FX or reverb/delay on the output. I use it in the studio for silent guitar tracking. The tone shaping controls are unusually powerful, and can be used to dial in some rather extreme sounds. The filter frequency control is the key feature, and allows for a truly diverse tonal palette for a single pedal. The mid knob on this box is one of the few places where using boost EQ sounds really good. Works wonders on bass guitar as well, especially with some of the dry signal mixed in.

The best pre-amp pedal out there I can think of for Bass! This thing shapes tone very well. I love the warm tube like tone you can get with this pedal!

Great DI box and amp model

I use this all the time to cut bass tracks. I put it in front of an LA2A and I get a great bass signal with plenty of contour on EQ. Clean and quite. All my clients love the bass lines, and I attribute a lot of it to getting great signal from this DI box. Love it.
