At a glance
Lessons are shaped around your goals. Some students want to sit graded exams, others just want to play the songs they love. Both paths are welcome here.
Children, teens and adults who love a refined fingerstyle sound, from complete beginners up.
Classical and Latin repertoire, studies, and arrangements of well-known melodies.
Work towards ABRSM or Trinity College London grades, or learn through our Leisure Learning programme with no exam pressure.
One-on-one at our Petaling Jaya academy. Choose a 30, 45 or 60-minute lesson depending on your level.
What you'll learn
Every lesson balances technique with musicianship, so you can play with control and expression, not just hit the right notes.
01
The classical sitting position, guitar support and relaxed, efficient hands.
02
Rest and free strokes, arpeggios and finger independence for an even, singing tone.
03
Clean fingering, shifting up the neck, and slurs.
04
Reading standard notation from the start, building towards sight-reading.
05
Studies and pieces from different periods, matched to your level.
06
Tone colour, dynamics and phrasing that bring a piece to life.
Inside a lesson
Every lesson follows a clear rhythm, so you always know what you're working on and why.
Scales and right-hand exercises to settle the hands.
One technical point at a time, demonstrated and practised together.
Your current pieces, with feedback on tone, accuracy and phrasing.
A little theory, then a clear practice goal for the week ahead.
Real progress happens at home. Your teacher sets a short, specific practice plan each week, and parents of young learners get clear guidance on how to help.
Your journey
Here's what each stage looks like, so you know what to expect before you start.
Everyone moves at their own pace. Progress depends on age, practice time and goals. Your teacher will tell you honestly how you're doing and when you're ready for the next step.
Beginner
Sit correctly, draw a clear tone with the right hand and read simple melodies on the top strings. Progress feels gradual at first, which is normal on classical guitar.
Up to Grade 3
Simple pieces combining melody and bass, more of the fretboard and more confident reading.
Grade 4 – 5
Longer pieces, barre and position work, and finer control of tone and dynamics.
Grade 6 – 8 and beyond
Concert repertoire, polished technique and your own interpretation, with a pathway on to diploma level.
