For starters, a 3-mode range control with Hi, Mid, and Lo settings lets you define the range of your instrument for optimal performance with guitar or bass. Also, the Ultra Octaver's independent volume controls for both octave voices as well as the unaffected direct signal lets you create the exact effect you're going for.
