Guitarists far and wide love Friedman’s original BE-OD overdrive pedal. That said, they’ll love the BE-OD Deluxe twice as much — it gives you the same British-amp-on-steroids sound as its predecessor but ups the ante with a second channel and midrange controls. The dual channels make dialing in separate rhythm and lead sounds a breeze, while the Mid controls give you loads of tone-sculpting power. From smooth breakup to metallic high-gain tones, the Friedman BE-OD Deluxe is the easy way to inject your pedalboard with authentic tube-amplifier sound.

It's easy to use and goes with anything I have. Multieffect processors to just straight into a clean channel or apart of a pedal board. I'm not sure but I think somthing is rattling around on the inside.. Doesn't effect tone or functionality but is a little concerning for a rm1k++ pedal. Other then that small concern it's a great piece of work that will stay in my family and will be passed down from generation to generation.
This pedal is of similar quality to the mxr 5150 , very close ,
but it has two channels, which is a huge plus, the shame is that
the switching arrangement is incredibly lame.
Super lame switching arrangement, I can't say that enough,
the idiotic switching scheme, there should be NO BYPASS switch,
this is a true bypass pedal, there should be two switches which there
are , but they should be one for ch 1 and one for ch 2 , THAT IS ALL.
When ch 1 is light up, ch1 is on.
When ch 2 is light up, ch 2 is on.
When they're both off, they're both off. period.
They could and should design it so that if 1 is on, when you hit
two one goes off and visa versa, but having a separate swich to
turn the unit on and off is beyond incredibly lame.
Back to the good, the tone you can get if you use a tube amp is
magical , like the MXR 5150, if you like an SRV / Allman bros
tone, might not be the best for players that just want metal ,
but the distortion is good for a lot of things, including SRV, I should
also mention though that the best sound I was getting was with
the Sliderig, but it is quite expensive, I'm going to try a keely compressor,
and see if that combination of Friedman and Keely can replicate the
excellent SRV tones I was getting before.
There might be slightly better individual overdrive and distortion pedals out there, but you wouldn't know it after hearing this thing. I play mostly dark music, anywhere from post-punk like Wire and the Chameleons, to balls out heaviness like Mastodon and Neurosis and this pedal covers all of that. For reference, I'm coming from a TS9/Revv 3 pedal stack, and I'll never go back to those after getting the BE OD Deluxe. It's everything you need in one pedal and it will make any amp sound like a monster. I play out of a Twin Reverb, and now I have a Twin/Friedman combo- the best of both worlds! Buy it.
This is by far the best overdrive/ distortion pedal to date in my arsenal, thanks to Dave and Iain who recommended me this bad boy.
Probably one of the best overdrives on the market. The two stage gain in this beast is awesome and dialing each tone for their application is guitar nirvana. The only that would make this pedal a mountain above others is a built in noisegate.
Running this through the front end of a Mesa Boogie Stiletto deuce through a Mesa 4x12 recto cab with a Gibson es-335 with dirty finger + pickups
