The Hummingbird™ was first introduced in 1960 and was the first square-shoulder acoustic model from Gibson. The top is solid Sitka spruce and is reinforced with scalloped X-bracing. Both the top and back are framed with multi-ply binding. 

The Hummingbird Standard’s mahogany neck is attached to the body with a compound dovetail neck-to-body joint using hot hide glue and features a comfortable Rounded profile. The neck is equipped with a bound rosewood fretboard with 20 standard frets and mother-of-pearl parallelogram inlays. The belly-up bridge is also crafted from rosewood. This ’bird has a TUSQ® nut, saddle, and bridge pins. The smooth, self-lubricating TUSQ nut, in partnership with high-quality Grover® Rotomatic® tuners, ensures solid tuning stability. The Hummingbird Standard features the iconic Hummingbird graphics on the pickguard, which is one of the design elements that have made this model instantly recognizable, even to many non-guitarists.

Baggs® VTC electronics, which feature an under-saddle piezo pickup and active preamp.
