The savage bass tones of dUg Pinnick are yours with the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature bass distortion pedal. It's essentially a compressed version of his Ultra Bass 1000 Signature head, merging low-end power and punch with top-end bite and grind. And dUg personally beta tested the DP-3X on a European tour — despite having a different backline rig in each venue, he was able to dial in his tone every time. Equipped with versatile distortion, musical EQ, and sweet compression, the Tech 21 DP-3X dUg Pinnick Signature bass distortion pedal can help you find your own signature sound as well.

Great pedal!! dUg's tone in a box!!! And more than that! LOTS of sick bass tones in this thing! Highly recommended!!
I was interested in purchasing either the Geddy Lee DI2112, Steve Harris SH1, or the Dug Pinnick DP3X. Since I live in a smaller city now, it is impossible to do a side-by-side comparison. After reading reviews and watching YouTube videos, I ended up going with the Dug Pinnick DP3X.
So far I'm extremely happy with it. Very nice build quality, and great sound. Not an all-in-one effect pedal by any means. Get a Zoom B1 Four if you want that, which to me has too many options, hard to program on the fly and the quality is not there. The DP-3X is pretty straightforward with a DI, clean, mix mode, and bypass tuner. One thing I liked and the Geddy Lee 2112 and Steve Harris pedal didn't have was the built-in compressor. Yes, it's an old-school-sounding compressor but it's solid and sounds nice. The manual has a few sample settings which are a great starting point. Register your product warranty with Tech 21 in the first 90 days of purchase and get 2 years. Super happy with the purchase.
I've been playing bass since I was 14 (16 years ago). My favorite players were always guys like Geddy Lee, Dug Pinnick, Justin Chancellor, etc. I've always struggled to emulate that bi-amped tone one achieves by blending a clean amp and a distorted amp and running them together. My go to tone has always been from the Tech 21 RBI. The DP-3x sounds incredible out of the box and it's extremely versatile. You can get a great clean sound all the way over to a gnarly distorted wall of sound. It's so fun to play! I lose track of time playing and experimenting (something I haven't done in a long time). I would reccomend looking st the unit as one sound. If you try to use it for a distorted tone AND a separate clean tone, you will need to experiment a lot due to the way it's eqed, compressed, and swept. The tuner is an added bonus and works well. I'm extremely satisfied!
If you dial in the Dug sound it is awesome. Clean tones, or really anything else, is just okay. Would have been better off with a Big Muff and a separate tuner. It is also an odd size on my pedalboard.
Conveniently small, tough, and ideal tone --- greatest possible combo of features!
