Alfred Phoon is a highly accomplished musician, composer and teacher with a diverse range of achievements in the field of music. He has a passion and emphasis for teaching the art of musical interpretation and appreciation.

 

He holds several prestigious qualifications, namely:

Fellowship of the London College of Music (FLCM),

Licentiate of the London College of Music (LLCM),

Associate of the Trinity College of Music (ATCL), and

Diploma from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (Dip.ABRSM).

 

Career Highlights

1994 to 1996 - Served as the Treasurer and Committee member of the Classical Guitar Society. During this time, he contributed his expertise to enhance the society's activities and promote classical guitar music.

Musical achievements

Alfred's talents have been showcased at numerous events and festivals. In 1993 and 1994, he participated in the Alliance Francaise de Kuala Lumpur Music Festival, demonstrating his exceptional musical skills. Additionally, he delivered an impressive performance at the Amoda Building, organized by Standard Chartered Bank.

Compositional work

Alfred has created an extensive body of work that reflects his creative prowess. His compositions include notable pieces such as 'See Me Fly,' 'His Kingdom,' 'Moment in Time,' 'Starry Night Over the Broken Mirror,' and 'Angels and Demons.' These compositions demonstrate his versatility and mastery across different musical styles.

Alfred's dedication to his craft extends beyond original compositions. He has also revised and reimagined well-known tracks, adding his unique touch to elevate their musicality. Some of the revised tracks that bear his creative signature include 'Sonata in C Major Op. 15 1st Movement,' 'Primavera Portena Tango,' and 'Sonata Romantico.'

 

Publishing

In addition to his musical achievements, Alfred has contributed to the literary world. He has authored two published books, namely 'Variations on the Theme of Hymn' and 'Classical Guitar Advanced Repertoire.' These books serve as valuable resources for aspiring musicians and enthusiasts, showcasing Alfred's expertise and dedication to music education.
