Since 1873, Epiphone has provided musicians with high-quality instruments. The earliest Epiphone guitars were produced in a factory next to Gibson's. Now owned by Gibson, Epiphone produces fully licensed Gibson guitars under the Epiphone brand. While some Epiphone USA models are produced in Gibson's American factories, the majority of Epiphones are built in their Chinese plant. The Epiphone brand offers a wide variety of electric and acoustic guitars in addition to bass guitars. Also, if there is a Gibson form you like, you can typically find a comparable Epiphone at a lower cost. Along with producing several of its own renowned instruments, Epiphone also replicates many of Gibson's designs. The Beatles famously started using The Casino on such hits as "Ticket to Ride," "Drive My Car," and "Taxman" in the middle of the 1960s, which led to their immediate success. The Wilshire, Triumph, Riviera, and Sheraton II are more noteworthy unique designs by Epiphone. Epiphone continues to produce models including the Casino, Riviera, and Emperor under the Gibson name. Yet, they are as well recognized today for their excellent reproductions of some of Gibson's most iconic models, including the Les Paul Standards, Customs, and Studios, as well as SGs, Firebirds, Explorers, and many others. King, Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath, Zakk Wylde, Joe Bonamassa, Slash, and Matt Heafy from Trivium are just a few of the musicians who have endorsed both brands and have their own signature models with Epiphone.
